Starpath ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Starpath application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service. By using Starpath, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1.1 Account Information

An account is created for you automatically and anonymously when you first use the app — no email address or password is required. If you choose to link an email address and password in your profile (optional, to keep your account across devices), we collect and store those credentials securely (passwords are hashed using industry-standard methods).

1.2 User-Generated Content

This includes the goals you create (titles, descriptions, SMART fields, deadlines, instructions, and reflections), category preferences, and onboarding responses. This data is necessary to provide the core functionality of the Service.

1.3 Payment Information

If you subscribe to Starpath Pro, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through In-App Purchase. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details on our servers. Through our service provider RevenueCat, Inc. we receive only an anonymous app user identifier, your subscription status, and transaction metadata (such as date and plan type).

1.4 AI Interaction Data

When you use AI-powered features, your goal titles and quiz answers are processed by OpenAI (USA) to generate your personalized plan and goal suggestions. We do not use this data to train AI models, and OpenAI does not use it for model training.

1.5 Automatically Collected Data

We may collect basic technical data such as device type and general usage patterns to ensure the Service functions properly and to improve performance. The app contains no third-party analytics SDK, and we do not use tracking for advertising purposes.

3. Data Storage and Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Starpath:

3.1 Supabase

Our database, authentication, and backend infrastructure are hosted on Supabase. Your account data and user-generated content are stored in Supabase's infrastructure. Supabase uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting. For more information, see the Supabase Privacy Policy.

3.2 Apple In-App Purchase and RevenueCat

Payment processing is handled by Apple through In-App Purchase. Your payment is charged to your Apple ID, and Apple processes and stores your payment information. We use RevenueCat, Inc. as a service provider to validate purchase receipts and manage your subscription status. See the Apple Privacy Policy and the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

3.3 OpenAI

AI features are powered by OpenAI (USA). Your goal titles and quiz answers are processed by OpenAI to generate your personalized plan and goal suggestions; only the minimum necessary context is shared. No personal identifiers are sent, and OpenAI does not use your data for model training. See the OpenAI Privacy Policy.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it (e.g., for tax or accounting purposes related to payment transactions). Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained for analytical purposes.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted connections (TLS/SSL), secure password hashing, row-level security policies on our database, and access controls on our backend infrastructure. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Data Transfers

Our Service is available globally. Your data may be processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States (where our service providers, including OpenAI, operate). Where data is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

Starpath is not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
